Challenge:

Project Scope:
1) Refresh brand language to better describe the work of the center
2) Create new logo that best represents the center
3) Refresh brand presentation (consistent font, graphics, etc.) for use in templates such as letterhead, reports, and PowerPoints
4) Design new tri-fold marketing brochure
5) Advise on refresh of website design (while meeting internal UC requirements)
6) Provide simple graphic/brand standards guide

Action Steps/Deliverables/Timeline:

June-September:

•Brand audit to include review of current messaging across all platforms (print and digital channels) to include current agency mission statement and key messaging.
•Brand refresh strategy will involve a complete re-think of what UCESC does, how it delivers, speaks, and behaves.
•UCESC to provide all UC brand, website guidelines to be followed throughout rebranding process.
•Multiple Focus groups were facilitated with groups of customers and potential customers from academic and nonprofit organizations.
•Engaged graphic designer to create new UCESC logo
•Extensive Research on best industry practices and competitors.
•Based on learnings, drafted/edited/finalized brand language.
•Completed all aspects of the UCESC brand refresh to reintroduce the brand to current and future customers.
•Created, finalized new logo that best represents UCESC brand
•Provided UCESC staff with complete graphic/brand standards guide
•Refreshed all brand presentation materials using new standards/guidelines in ALL collateral materials and templates, such as reports, PowerPoint presentations and possibly email marketing campaigns.
•Drafted/edited/finalized design for new tri-fold marketing brochure to be printed inhouse at UC.
• Worked with internal UC IT staff to advise on website design refresh incorporating new UCESC brandmark and brand language.
• Worked with UC IT to make recommendations to current website, which will include reviewing page titles and making changes to improve search engine optimization (SEO) and overall user-friendliness
• Reviewed project deliverables monthly and updated as needed.
• Assisted UCESC in becoming known as a respected leader in research and evaluation in academic and nonprofit communities throughout the region and beyond.

Results:

Wow, I must say this project was so much fun and our team enjoyed watching the new brand come to life. UCESC is now better positioned in the marketplace with new messaging and brandmark to promote their services internally and externally. Special thanks to Tamie Sullivan, our Nonprofit Specialist.
