4 Steps to Writing a Must-read Business Blog

Are your blogs helping you secure new clients? Blogging boosts your authority, directs interested traffic, and develops leads. The question is, are your blogs boosting your business? Even though business blogging is a long term strategy, applying smart tactics to just one post can produce driven prospects. Try this 4-step method to boost your business:

Step 1: Forget About Developing Leads

Running a small business can be challenging. You have to keep current clients satisfied while flooding your pipeline with new prospects. You need to sustain your website and accounts, generate networking opportunities, and a lot more. When you get caught up in running your business, it is easy to forget your main purpose, solving customers' problems.

To create new leads with a single blog post, forget about lead generation and focus on the basics:

  • Identify your ideal clients
  • Understand their needs
  • Solve their problems

A compelling blog post will grab your prospects' attention because you are informing them that you can solve their problems.

Step 2: Stand Out as an Impeccable Problem Solver

The web is full of falsified posts. A short list of general tips does not make a business stand out. To distinguish your business as a genuine problem solver, you must focus your efforts. For example, consider writing a meaningful tutorial instead of generic post. We live in the technology era where anyone can gain clients online - it's crucial to stand out from the crowd.

To get noticed and win clients your posts need to:

  • Define your customer’s problem in the introduction paragraph and ensure you will solve it in the remainder of your blog post.
  • Explain in detail how a client can solve their problem.
  • Remind potential clients how much better off they will be after following your advice.

When you regularly solve one’s problems, you win customers online.

Step 3: Reinforce Your Authority

Are you afraid customers won't take your advice because you aren't an established authority yet?

To counter this fear, insert authority enhancers into your blog posts to strengthen credibility:

  • Quote experts to display your knowledge of your field.
  • Include citations to reveal you have done your research.
  • Insert reliable statistics to add substance.
  • Reveal specific case studies or white papers to demonstrate your knowledge.
  • Discuss solid opinions, don’t be afraid to estrange readers who aren’t a good fit for your business.

Writing a power-boosting blog requires that you not worry about all the details. It is best to avoid generalized statements. Do excellent research and find the most helpful examples and the greatest quotes. Ensure that your blog post is so interesting that readers can’t bypass you.

Step 4: Make Prospects Admire You

Authority can be a tad dull. Almost everyone claims to be an expert. Authority alone won't differentiate you from your competitors. The most intelligent post can still put your readers to sleep.

To lure customers, add personality to your posts:

  • Instead of academic language use simplistic wording.
  • Throw in some humor, and accept your silly quirks.
  • Use short sentences to make yourself sound more enthusiastic.

Dispose of a scholarly voice. You might think you sound intelligent and enlightening, but in reality you may come off as dry and stale.
