How Can Google+ Improve Your Marketing?

11 Useful Google+ Tools to Improve Your Marketing

Are you struggling to gain traction on Google+?

If you want to improve your marketing efforts and dominate social media, you have to distribute rich content efficiently and effectively - Google+ can help you do just that. Read on to discover 11 tools that integrate with Google+ to improve your marketing:

#1: Integrate with YouTube

If you have a YouTube channel, share your videos on Google+ to reach and engage a wider audience. This way, users can view your video within Google+, and comments on that Google+ share show up as comments on your YouTube video.

#2: Increase Your Reach

Although Webinars can be a powerful tool for building email lists and a loyal audience, the software can be expensive and difficult to use. Luckily, Google+ has an easy alternative. Hangouts On Air provides a free video broadcasting service that lets you stream a live feed to your YouTube channel for recording, and integrates with Google+.

#3: Keep the Conversation Going

With Google Drive, Google’s cloud-based file management and storage service, you can share a great deal of information with your Google+ audience, including slideshows, PDFs and even password-protected documents. Google Drive will help you keep the conversation going even after your event.

#4: Store Your Pictures

In case you wondered, you can use Google+ to store your pictures safely. Google+ is a reliable way to store your pictures, so you can delete them from your phone. Once uploaded, you can highlight the important photos, enhance them, or even create image galleries to share with contacts.

#5: Extend the Life of Your Content

Google+ Embedded Posts is a cool feature that lets you share your Google+ posts on your blog. Embedding a post on your blog extends the life of the content, since the original Google+ post content is eventually lost.  Also, Google+ content embedded into your blog is tied to your Google+ profile, meaning readers can see shares, comments or +1s on both your blog and Google+ content.

#6: Use Images to Your Benefit

Because visual content is a great way to capture your audience’s attention, it would be awesome if all social networks had the same rules, guidelines and dimensions for sharing images.  However, that would be too much to ask, and for now we are stuck formatting images for Twitter, Instagram and Facebook.

The good news is that Google+ is different - they don't require you to auto-crop or re-size images before posting, and let's face it, full-size images tell a much better visual story.

#7: Format Your Posts

Readers want to consume as much information in as little time possible.  Scannable content is a must if you want to succeed at social media marketing.  Since LinkedIn, Twitter and Facebook don’t allow you to format your post content, you will have difficulty capturing your readers' attention with these social networking options.

Google+, however, allows you to add simple variables such as “*” for bold and “_” for italics, quickly grabbing your readers’ attention. Formatting Posts allows your most valuable content to stand out.

#8: Use Relevant Hashtags

Just like Twitter and Instagram (and unlike Facebook), hashtags can have a strong impact on reaching your targeted audience on Google+. The Explore feature uses hashtags to help Google+ users easily find and interact with topics they’re interested in.

#9: Segment Your Audience

Google+ circles are one of the most important tools of Google+. Unlike other social networks, circles are much more than “people who see your content" - they are more like subscribers.

As you connect with other Google+ members, you can place them in circles, which are just lists that let you easily segment contacts.

#10: Use +Post Ads

+Post ads take Google+ posts and create display ads that run across Google’s ad network of over two million web properties. According to Google, +Post ads are a great way to “amplify your content and create conversations across the web.”  The best part is that +Post ads drive traffic to your Google+ profile, not away.

#11: Track Analytics

Since analytics and tracking are critical to any marketing campaign, it's important to know there are several tools that integrate with Google+.  Some of these tools include: SumAll;  CircleCount and Steady Demand’s Google+ Brand Page Audit tool.  Most of these are free.

Conclusion

Although Google+ needn't be your primary marketing platform, it provides a strong complement to your current online marketing programs. Google+ updates enhance media creation and the way that published content is consumed. The distribution, segmentation and analysis capabilities of Google+ provide you and your business additional marketing potential.
