Personal and Professional Lessons Learned During a Pandemic

Like most of you, my personal and professional world has been turned upside down and I'm feeling somewhat anxious and uncertain. As a result, I'd like to share a few things I've learned both personally and professionally during the pandemic...

On a personal note...

I have noticed, in general, that people are becoming more patient, caring and compassionate. They are displaying greater love and respect for individuals, families, their community, and our nation as a whole, and for this I'm grateful.

On a professional level...

My clients and other business owners I've spoken to have adjusted to our new business normal by:

1. Learning to Pivot - adjusting business models to meet client needs and expectations without face-to-face contact. This includes:

    a) setting up a peaceful and productive remote workspace

    b) doing more business online via virtual meetings 

    c) updating company and nonprofit websites to allow for online transactions

    d) keeping in front of the competition by setting yourself apart

    e) being prepared for life and business after COVID 

    f) staying connected by taking advantage of online networking opportunities

    g) creating learning opportunities via webinars and online subscriptions

2. Being more productive than pre-COVID - I'm amazed at how many people I've spoken to love working remotely and have said they are achieving more in less time, which allows for additional "family or fun" time outside of work.

3. Staying positive - adopting a "glass half full" mentality. Remember, as my wonderfully wise mother-in-law always says, "This too shall pass!"
